Say It Ain't So!

She's on her way!!!!!!!!!!!

Water? Check

Food? Check

Candles? Check

Flashlights? ummm kidda.

Knitting project lined up, pattern printed and yarn ready to go? CHECK!!!!

Hope you have your priorities in check. :)

But in all seriousness, I do hope that we are all ok. Sounds like we're going to get hit hard here on the Jersey Shore. We're a few miles in from the coast so hoping the flooding isn't too bad here.
I worry about the winds. Hoping the houses, barns and alpacas stay on the ground.

Yikers. This could be a bad one.

Hang in there East Coast. We can do it.

Knit away!!!!!!!

Yarn Along

Howdy. It's that time again. Wednesday....knitting day :)

I'm joining in with all the great knitters out there and sharing what
I have been working on and reading.

First of all, speaking of reading.
I FINALLY finished Cutting for Stone. Normally I devour a book and finish it
within a week. But this book lingered and took me a while to get through.
After 2 months of reading I finished it. WOW.
What a book. It will stay with me for a very long time.

So onto what I'm knitting and reading now....

I whipped up this little toddler hat to sell in our farm store.
It's a mix of tan baby alpaca and alpaca sock yarn.
I bought this sock yarn years ago in my favorite yarn store in Saratoga, NY.
I realized after buying it that I love sock yarn when it's in a skein, but not
a fan of the striping once I start knitting.
I did realize however that if I knit and add a solid stripe between the rows, I love it.

I am also knitting a new Grey Loop.
Great pattern. It has just enough changes to keep me happy.

It has a nice mix of eyelet sections, stockinette and purl sections.

So far so good. I needed to read a short book after my marathon book!

Chase says hello :)
Where is my baby going????

Happy knitting!

This and That

You know those days that you are a crazy lady, yelling at your kids, overwhelmed by laundry, dust and piles, you've been to the grocery store but somehow don't have anything to eat, flipping out on your dog, husband and feel like ripping your hair out?

Yeah.

That's me.

Ugh. I hate that feeling. I haven't been much fun to be around lately. I realize that. My poor husband is afraid of me I think. :) Not really....but you know what I mean.

It's a terrible way to be but sometimes I think I just have to snap to get myself back on track.

I've snapped.

And today, I'm back on track.

Blech....good to get that out. Ok...now onto some nicer things in life.

We have been so busy lately.
Here is a glance into what has been going on around here the past week.

A local girl scout troop visited the farm.

Lilly is such a sweet girl and let all the scouts pet her.
 Chase stomping through the field.

Spinning demonstration for the girls.

Saturday morning beach sweep with Garrett's cub scout den.
It was a beautiful morning and a perfect way to start our busy weekend.

The waves were full of surfers bobbing around.

Dalton was elected to student council at his school.
One of his duties was to help out at our school craft fair.

Football season is OVER. Phew. We made it. What an exhausting sport...and I'm just sitting on the sidelines!!!!! My boy was DONE with practice. This picture was taken right after his last game.
The boys played their hearts out and won the last game. Nice way to end a season.
We're blessed with an amazing head coach and I'm going to miss seeing all my mom buddies at the fields every night.

Fall has arrived. I love the crisp air and pretty colors.
I finally finished my book, Cutting For Stone.
Wow. What a book. I don't know why it took me so long to finish.
Oh yeah...maybe all that stuff I complained about in the beginning of this post!

My kids begged me to get some Halloween decorations. This guy hangs outside and scares the heck out of me every night. I keep thinking a person is outside.

And this guy has a new favorite chair. This little rocking chair was mine as a girl. Uncle Mayo made it for me and now Chase loves it. It warms my heart to see my kids still enjoying Uncle Mayo's handiwork.

I feel better already.

Meeting a friend for coffee this morning and I hope to get more knitting done.

Have a good one :)

Yarn Along

I wish I had been able to knit more this week, but my shoulder had other plans for me.
It's so sore and creaky. I'm blaming knitting as much as I wish to blame it on something else.
Oh well. The rough life of a knitter I guess.... :)

So I took a little break. But I did manage to finish up the body of Chase's little pullover sweater.
Nothing fancy, just an every day practical sweater.
Knitted with Quince & Co. Lark yarn.

I added a rib to the bottom.
Now I need to finish the neck and arms.

Liz crocheted this beautiful chunky alpaca scarf. I'm not sure of the pattern name.
The white knit underneath is something knitted in Peru. We sell it in the store. It's so pretty!

After a really long walk in our local State Park, Liz and I hung out in the coop and enjoyed some Hink's Turkey lunch. Finn was enjoying getting some mac and cheese from Chase.

And look at this beautiful little boy.
Wade turned 1 month old!!! He is a beauty that nephew of mine.
