Thankful

I just want to take a moment to thank everyone that has supported our farm over the past few years.
I think I speak for everyone in my family when I say that I am overwhelmed by the response we have received, the joy the alpacas have brought us and the community, the joy we feel when we see new faces and old smiling at the sight of our fuzzy critters.

Our farm has been bustling, the fire stove cranking. We have been busy knitting, spinning, crocheting, laughing, helping, talking and smiling. We are thankful. Thankful that we are able to spend time as a family, doing the things we love and making others happy as well.

Wishing you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Baby Reid

Two months ago a very good friend of mine requested a baby hat for her nephew-to-be.
She asked for a simple hat, knitted with gray alpaca yarn.

I casted on, knitted this little hat and handed it off to her.

Baby Reid's parents chose to have him wear the hat in his professional newborn portrait.
How cute is he!!!???!!!

I am touched that my hat was special enough for his professional shoot!

Wishing you a very wonderful life, Baby Reid! Welcome to the world.

Thank you to Reid's mom and dad for allowing me to share this beautiful photo!

Guernsey Wrap Is Done!

Fresh off my needles...

The Guernsey Wrap, a Jared Flood patten.
Knitted with Queensland Collection Rustic Tweed Yarn
A blend of wool, alpaca and Donegal (what ever that is!)
It's a pretty pumpkin brownish color. Light drapey fabric when blocked and I can't wait to wear it.

A joy to knit. Easy and kept my attention.

Ravelry Notes Here: Guernsey Wrap

And since I'm talking about  Jared Flood pattern here,
did you all see the new look book for Brooklyn Tweed, Wool People v.6??!!! Beautiful!!!!!!!
Want to knit it all. I especially love the Tree Rings blanket.
I sense a knit-a-long. Anyone in????

Still reading The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton, and I love it. Just wish I had more time to read.

Joining in with the yarn along over at Ginny's.

Happy Knitting!

Farm Goodness

Sharing some more photos taken over the weekend at the farm....all in the Coop.

A wonderful weekend. Join us next weekend!

Nature Exchange

A few weeks ago, I signed our family for a nature exchange.
We were matched up with Wendy and her two boys from Oregon.

The idea was to gather small items from nature that are from your area.
Put them in an egg carton and mail them to the other family that was in another region of the United States. We had a really good time collecting things, figuring out what everything was and packing it up. It taught the boys (and myself) more about the things around us, different parts of the country, mailing, etc. It was fun and I thought I would share some pictures of the box we received.

The thing we were most surprised to see was that we sent very similar things!
Despite being on opposite coasts, we packed up beach sand, crab claws, feathers and pinecones to name a few. It was a great experience!

Thanks Wendy, Wyatt and Hudson for the great treasures!

Learning

Thank you to everyone that stopped by the farm this weekend.

It was so nice to meet new people and say hello to our repeat customers.
We are once again humbled and thankful for the interest in this farm
and the support of the alpaca community.

We learned some new things this weekend....such as, how "Pop, Goes the Weasel" came from!
I'll post about this later. I got a kick out of it!!!

Anywho, just wanted to say thanks.

A few photos from the weekend....

Liz giving a crochet lesson • Using the wood stove as a microwave • Chase playing with a visitor, also happens to be the son of my childhood friend

More pictures later....kids are off of school AGAIN and we're headed out for some fun.

Happy Monday!

Yarn Along

Happy Wednesday, folks.

Congrats to Ginny and her family on the birth of their new little (big!!!) baby boy!

Onto the yarn along for the week.....

More Hats!

I knitted up this fun slouch hat over the weekend.
Calling it my Saratoga Slouch
Knitted with Tosh Light in the colorway, Steven loves Tosh
My husband bought this yarn for me as a gift from my favorite yarn store in Saratoga, NY.
He picked it out all by himself. I was quite impressed.

I also knitted up a few new fair isle hats using alpaca yarn. They're for sale in our farm store!
This one is a toddler size little girl hat :) Having all boys, it's fun to knit girly things for the store.

This hat is adult large. Knitted up with white, gray and black baby alpaca yarn.

I finally have a good book to read!!!!!!!!
I chose The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton for next month.
It had a little bit of a slow start, but now I don't want to put it down.
You know the kind of book that you want to keep reading, think about it while you are not reading it and can't wait to tell others to read it too??? Yup...it's that kind. (I'm a dork and love a good book)

I also knitted a few more rows of my Guernsey Wrap.
Getting there!!!

In other news, our farm will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting this weekend (November 8th) Hours: 10-4. Come by!!!!!!!! We have so many new beautiful things for sale.

And one more thing...
Wade is in the Next Gerber Baby Contest!
Will you take a moment to vote for him?
You can vote once a day :)
