Yarn Along at the Inlet

I headed down to the Manasquan Inlet last night with two of my boys. There is a tropical storm brewing out in the ocean which brings out the surfers. Lots of great waves, people watching and surf. I got in some more knitting on my Golden Child shawl while Chase and Garrett played on the rocks.

This knit is very easy but the rows are getting longer and garter stitch in sock yarn is well, ya know...slow.

I'm still reading The Lake House by Kate Morton. I'm almost done and although it was a bit wordy and long, it's worth the read. I really like it. You have to pay attention though! Clues pop in out of the blue while you read.

Yarn Along

I've been knitting away on my Golden Child shawl. It's very easy to memorize which is what I need!

I'm still reading The Lake House by Kate Morton. I'm really enjoying it but I find that I need to read it when I have a big chunk of time. It's not a pick up and put down kind of book.

I posted some knitting inspiration yesterday. Now I can't get all the projects out of my mind!!!

Knitting on the brain

Fall is on the way. Knitting is ramping up. So little time, so many things I want to knit.

Going through Ravelry to find some new ideas to add to my ever increasing "favorite" list. I thought I would share some of my new finds.
Here are a few things I came across. Some of my knitting buddies might like these too.

Bracken Mitts (would be so cute in alpaca yarn)

Cottage Slipper Socks (would be awesome in thick chunky yarn) not to mention quick to knit

Have you guys seen the new Thea Colman "Baby Cocktails" sweater??!!!!
Holy cow, heaven on earth cables, big neck and 3/4 length sleeves. I want it.

This super cute hat designed and made by my sister, Andee. It's FREE!! Yippee skippy.
Here's the link: Boho Batt Hat

She made it with her handspun from Boho Chic Fiber Co. batt.
I loved the booth in Maryland. Check Boho Chic Fiber out...she has awesome colors. I follow her on instagram too where she posts shop updates and other beautiful pictures.

I wish I had a little girl to knit for, but I don't. But this is too cute. I might knit one or two up for the farm store if I have time. How cute would this be with little leggings underneath for fall?

One more....
This shawl looks so squishy and comfy. I would love to wrap myself up in it.
Taine by Melanie Berg

Now I want to go home and knit and knit and knit.....

Yarn!!!

Fall is approaching and that means time for wearing our hand knits!!!!

The fleece from this past spring's shearing day is officially in Vermont at the fiber mill.
I can't wait to see what gorgeous yarn we get in return.

The store will be opening up again soon.
So get ready to create with Arrow Acres Yarn!!!

Fossil Hunting

Sunday afternoon, after a nice little morning at the beach, we went home. Chase was worn out from two straight days of beaching it. It was too nice out and I didn't feel like cleaning my house. Soooooo I forced two of my kids to go fossil hunting with me. Well, I only had to force one of them (the 12 year old tween). He was not happy with me.
But he humored me and I dare say he had a good time. He was much more cheery on the ride home than the ride there. :)

Here's where we went: Big Brook Preserve in Colts Neck, NJ
A nice little stream with fossils and shark teeth dating back millions of years.
We found a few little things. No shark teeth this trip but I'll definitely go back and try again.

Yarn Along

Hi all. Happy Yarn Along day.
The heat has been brutal around here so I stayed indoors for most of Saturday and knitted away.
I started the Golden Child shawl and it's been an easy knit. Just what I was looking for.
It has some solid sections, striped and textures. With a simple repeat, it's easy to memorize and knit away.

I am reading The Lake House by  Kate Morton.
It started out slow but once it got going I read it all day on Sunday while I sat in my beach chair in the ocean. Yes, IN the ocean. It was so hot and I sat as low as I could to the water edge to keep cool. It was glorious. The book has completely caught my attention and I think I'm going to enjoy the rest.

What are you knitting and reading?
