SOCKS......

Socks....I'm not the biggest sock knitting fan. It's A LOT of stitches for something that will be in a shoe and not on display. Yes, I like the way they feel. I like the satisfaction I feel when I put on a pair of hand knit socks. I do admit that it makes me happy to wear them. But the knitting of them....that's still up for debate. I suffer from second sock syndrome for sure. It's kind of like sleeves, fingerless mitts, it's that SECOND one that I don't feel like knitting! But when my friend Joan wants to learn a new technique and I'll knit anything with her, I'll cast on a new pair of socks. We are trying out the Susan B. Anderson sock, Smooth Operator Socks.

Going to give this new heel construction a try. And my girls are up to full egg production. Yippee! Love their eggs. Nothing better than those rich orange egg yolks for breakfast.

Have any of you knitted this sock? Wondering what everyone thinks.
What's your favorite sock pattern?

New paca pics

It was a beautiful day on Saturday so I thought it would be great to get some new pictures of the alpacas. The babies are growing up so quickly. They're a sweet bunch. And a few photos of my mom and her weaving. She's been working on scarves using yarn from her alpacas. They're beautiful!!! She's selling them in the farm store if you're interested!!!

Throwback Thursday

Throwing it back to 3 years ago and my little farm hand. Not much has changed...except that he isn't as eager to run out and help his Grandpop early on Saturday mornings like he used to. School all day wears him out I suppose. But he's still a little farm boy and still pretty cute.

Yarn Along

Happy Yarn Along Day!

I've been knitting away on my Girl from the Grocery Store shawl.
I love knitting it. It's a fun, easy to follow pattern and I'm now on the solid color part with just a touch of lace. I'm knitting with Sweet Georgia yarn in the colors, Bison (brown) and Bewitched (purple). It's the first time I've knit with this yarn and I'm very happy. It's the Tough Love Sock base.

I just ordered a new book, Swimming Lessons.
I'm hoping it's a good one! It's been a while since I've read a really good book.

Joining in with Ginny for the weekly yarn along.

Springtime during Winter!

What an amazing weather weekend we just had here at the Jersey Shore!!!!!! High 60's, full sun, no wind. It was picture perfect. We took full opportunity to enjoy the weekend. Walks on the beach, sea glass collecting, knitting outside with friends...perfection. Hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend too!

Fiber Friends

If you've been keeping up with the #yarnlovechallenge posts on instagram, you've probably enjoyed seeing some glimpses into knitter's worlds. It's fun to see everyone's interpretation of the same prompt. Today's word is "Fiber Friends". As much as I enjoy my quiet knitting time, knitting with my fiber friends is much more fun. I love my crew and we always have such a good time together. It reminds me of the quilters group that my grandmother and mom used to attend at our church. There's something about women coming together, sitting around a table and enjoying the same craft. I always feel energized after being with them and I look forward to our next gathering. Although we don't meet on a consistent basis, we are constantly in contact through texts, emails, ravelry messages and instagram posts. It makes smile when I'm at work, plugging away with my graphic design and my phone beeps with a text from one of my knitting buddies...sending me a sweater idea, asking a question, asking for help with a knitting problem. I never mind a knitting interruption in my work day :) I'm also the luckiest girl in the world that my whole family are fiber junkies too.

Here are some photos from the past few years of my "Fiber Friends"
