Sweater, Leaves and Alpacas...oh my

The baby sweater that I have been knitting is done and ready to be sent to a new little baby boy!
Hopefully it fits him! He was big when he was born. But it fit my 3 1/2 month old perfectly, so it should be good!

I also wanted to share some pictures of the alpacas this morning and the pretty leaves. It seems like it took a while for the leaves to change around here. But they're in full color now and falling by the minute.

Knitting Club tonight! Hope everyone is having a nice fall day.

Wednesday Yarn Along

Happy Wednesday! We have lots of knitted goodies to share this week!

Andee's Knitting this week:

Noble Cowl with baby alpaca yarn. She made the shawl pin to look like an alpaca.

Off Leanne's Needles:
I finished the little alpaca hooded cardigan for a family friend's new baby.
This is Chase modeling it this morning with his fancy pjs.

No book this week. Can't seem to find a good one that holds my interest. Any suggestions?

A grey ribbed scarf for Garrett. I intend to use this in our Christmas card picture.

And Lizzie has joined back in this week!

This skein of yarn was handspun and won 1st place at the NJAC show last weekend.

Crocheted cowl made with white baby alpaca yarn.

Crochet cowl- 1st place at the NJAC show. She handspun the yarn and designed the pattern.

 Yellow Shell Scarf (crochet)

Dyeing Yarn this morning at Liz's house:
I'm working on a skein that will be knitted into a Xmas gift for someone.

Liz's dog, Finn, stopped by to say good morning to the alpacas!

Look Girls...Pretty Leaves

It was a picture perfect fall day here at the shore. I stopped at Spring Lake today and took this picture.

In other news, I stopped by the fields this morning with Chase. I witnessed first hand, Shea at work. Two Oreos secure in one hand and raking alpaca poop with the other. I must remind you that Shea is 2. It was very amusing.

Knit along tomorrow.....

2011 NJ Alpaca Classic

Don, Liz, Dee and Andee spent the weekend in Logan, NJ at the 2011 NJ Alpaca Classic. Along with three of our alpacas: Sanda, Ox and Kigo. We all helped volunteer with different jobs during the show like registration, gate keepers, setting up tables, center pieces, obstacle course set up, and just about anything else that we could find to do. Liz spent the entire weekend in the ring with the judge and helping control the animals while they were being judged. She did a fantastic job. We had a wonderful time talking to other alpaca owners and seeing all the different alpacas from all the different farms.

(in the picture above is Dee and Liz checking in another farm's alpacas at the show)

Our alpacas did a great job. Kigo placed second and Ox placed fourth in their divisions. Sanda did not place, but he was a fantastic public relations for all the visitors of the show. There were many people that attended the show that have never seen alpacas before. Many were interested to find out more about them. When people arrived through the main entrance they passed by the vendors, fleece skirting display and then there was Sanda standing eagerly at his pen to meet everyone walking by. I have a feeling there are about 100 different cell phones that now have a picture of Sanda on them.

We also won awards for the fiber arts and spin off. Once everything settles down I will get a list of all the awards we received and I will get them all posted.

In the end it was a wonderful weekend with great people and great animals.

Wednesday Yarn Along

Joining in with Ginny at Small Things for this week's yarn along.
I haven't really been reading lately. Too tired I guess. But I did get this book, Sister, out of the library and I'm hoping to start it soon.

On Leanne's Needles:
The hooded baby alpaca cardigan is still in the works. Just need to do the sleeves and add buttons.
I started a blanket as a surprise Christmas gift for my boys. I hope to finish it in time! They fight over the blanket that is in this picture and I thought they would love a new one. Andee made that blanket years ago and it's still the favorite.

On and Off Andee's Needles:

 Handspun Yarn-
Awan (light fawn)
Ox (black)

 Kevin's Hat (K1, P1 Hat)

made with Eco Baby Alpaca yarn black

Nobel Cowl

made with Eco Baby Alpaca yarn tan
I did not make this the full size. I made this to figure out the pattern. I have figured out the kinks and I am making this for real now.  this one I am sure I will pull out and use the yarn for something else.

 Lens Cap Holder

I made it with Eco Baby Alpaca yarn & Melody alpaca yarn
I always need a place to keep my lens cap while I am shooting pictures, so I made this holder to keep my cap safe while I'm shooting.

 Andee's Slouchy Hood

I made this hat for myself. It is a mix between a slouchy hat and a hood. It is extremely comfortable.
I made it with Eco Baby Alpaca yarn black

Arrow Acres Alpaca Hat

I made this hat with Melody's yarn and Eco Baby Alpaca.
I don't have a pattern for this I just knit and knit and knit. I made this hat reversible.

Thank you to Ann at UP for her sock recommendation. I am TERRIBLE at math, so hopefully the math is very easy to figure out!

Happy Knitting!

Socks

We have fantastic alpaca socks here on the farm. Pretty much the warmest, most wonderfully soft, dreamy for your feet socks. So of course, my 9 year old son has requested that I knit him a pair of socks. I can't convince him that the alpaca socks that MomMom has are better than any sock I can ever knit. He has requested "ocean blue" socks for Christmas. Honestly, I'm happy that my son has shown an interest in my knitting and would be willing to wear something I make. So, socks it is.

Problem is...

I've never knitted socks before. After looking around on Ravelry, I realized there are many different ways to make a sock. So knitters, I need some help. If you knit socks and have a pattern you love, please leave me a comment!

Thank you!!! Leanne
