Finished Object :)

Hi guys. I finished the Halo Shawl a few weeks ago and finally got around to blocking it this weekend. This will be a gift for my cousin and her fiancee. I knitted it with the idea that they can put it on their couch or she can use it as a shawl. I was hoping it would be a little bigger. I wish I had knit a few more rings but...I didn't. So it's a small throw but I hope they like it. I tried to take some pictures of myself wearing it so you can see how it looks as a shawl. Selfies are so awkward. But you get the idea!

Project details can be seen here.

Babies!

It's baby season over here at the farm! Beautiful crias (name for baby alpacas) are happy and healthy and doing everything a cria should be doing. Liz did another amazing job by "going in" to help with Maggie's baby. She had a very long labor and wasn't pushing at all. So Liz to the rescue and a happy baby boy was born. So far we have welcomed 4 boys this season. Waiting on a few more so fingers crossed we get some girls!

Sunset Highway

The countdown to Rhinebeck has officially begun! I finished up my gift knitting so it's time to refocus on my Rhinebeck knits. If you've been reading this blog for a while you've seen my original sweater. It's the Super Soul Cardigan by Mary Jane Mucklestone. I am on the second sleeve and I ran out of the wineberry colored yarn for the color work. So...had to put an order in for another skein.

So what to do in the meantime???

Well, cast on sweater #2!!!

I had yarn in my stash for Maryland Sheep & Wool. The sweater is Sunset Highway by Caitlin Hunter. The whole sweater will be knit with Backyard Fiberworks. The colors at the top are their merino sock and the bottom will be their American Cormo.

I am LOVING knitting this one. It's quick and easy so far and at this rate I can get it done for Rhinebeck. Of course, when the new yarn for sweater #1 arrives, I may have to switch back and forth.

I finished knitting a little baby sweater. My neighbor asked me to knit something for her soon-to-be niece. Love a little sweater! So quick and easy. This is the Garter Yoke Baby Cardi knitted with Rowan Lima (baby alpaca, merino, nylon). This sweater is a great last minute gift knitting idea.

What I Want to Knit....

I am always looking for new things to knit...now if I could just find the time! LOL. I knit every day. Mostly in the mornings and after dinner is done. So I do get a few hours of knitting in daily, but I still can't get all the knits done that I wish I could. So, I just dream about these knits that will someday by in my pile of hand knits. This might be a start of a Rhinebeck shopping list :)

What have you been drooling over and wishing to knit? I love to see what others are crushing on.

Knitting for Babies

My neighbor asked me to knit a sweater for her soon-to-be niece.
Is there anything cuter than a baby sweater?!! I love knitting them. They're tiny and quick to knit.

This sweater is the Garter Yoke Baby Cardi
Link here
It's a free pattern on Ravelry.

I am knitting this with Rowan Lima yarn: baby alpaca, merino, nylon blend
It's a chained yarn and at first I kept splitting it with my needle but then I got the feel for it and it has been smooth sailing.

Happy knitting! What are you working on?

Weekend Weather

The weekend started off with wacky skies and lightning storms. Then followed with picture perfect weather on Sunday. It was a 10 at the beach and on the farm. Summer perfection for sure.
