Yarn Along

Happy Wednesday
No human baby yet.....we'll keep you posted!

I am joining in with Ginny and all the knitters out there this week,
sharing what I'm knitting and reading at the moment.

Here goes....
I knitted up a little alpaca vest for the farm store. I love little girl things.
As the mother of all boys, I get my girly knitting out for customers.
This little number is for sale in the coop.

Our dear family friend delivered a baby girl over the weekend.
Yay! Molly is a cutie. She lives in the wild west, but her mom is from the Jersey Shore.
I thought Molly needed a little summery dress that would remind her mom of the beach.
It's an original design by me and I'm writing up the pattern now so I can sell it on Ravelry.
Keep your eyes out for it!

And some more finished knits...
My Goldfinch Cardigan is all done.
It was a pleasure to knit and I have worn it every day since it's been done.
I know my family is sick of looking at me in it, but hey, it took a long time and was a lot of work and I love it. So for now, I'm the girl in the yellow sweater.
Here are some proper pictures of it.

For new projects this week:
I casted on my sister Andee's newest pattern.

I also casted on another baby girl dress so I can check my pattern.
Making this one in a dark purple alpaca merino blend.
I thought it would be adorable for fall with a little onesie under it.

It is a story based on the mental hospital that Zelda Fitgerald was a patient
when it burned down. Based loosely on the hospital and patients there.
So far it's very good.

So for now, that's my knitting.
We're all hoping for a little baby boy's safe and healthy arrival any day.
I can't wait to meet this little man!!!!!

Happy knitting and reading.
Hope to see you at the farm soon!

Knitting and a Springtime Snowfall

Silly winter. Didn't you know it was time to go?
We woke to a pretty snowy scene this morning.
The Jersey Shore was covered once again but this time only about 2 inches and it didn't mess up the roads or school schedule. That's my kind of snow :)
I do love it. It's very pretty...but enough already.
Warm days are you ever going to be here?

My sweater....
My Goldfinch Cardigan is almost done.
I did wear it to pick up the kids from school yesterday.
There were strings hanging from all seams, but who cares? I could wear it!!!
I have to finish the belt and buttons, but then it's ready for real pictures.

I also casted on and knitted this little vest. It's made with alpaca yarn from our farm store.
I have cute little buttons for it. Simple, sweet and practical.
A good staple item for the store.

For my reading....I'm listening this time.
I am listening to Sycamore Row by John Grisham.
I'm shocked at how much I'm liking it. It's a lawyer book. Normally not my cup of tea but I think I like it so much because the character is the same character as in Time To Kill that was played by Matthew McCoughnaey (spelling??) and I can picture him reading to me.
Hey...I can dream.

Cardigans & Catching Up

Wow! It's been a while since I posted. Thank goodness for Wednesday Yarn Along day.
It's always a nice way to start my morning and post what we've been up to over here lately.

Thought I would catch up on what we're knitting and other things that have been going on around the farm compound.

First.....

My sister, Andee, just released her new pattern.

Postcard Cardigan by AndeeKF
She's a miracle worker! What talent.
I did the graphic design for the pattern layout and I was amazed that she can design patterns.
I don't have that brain. I can knit it and make the pattern look nice...but design? Nope.

Pattern Page Link Here

Andee also started a Ravelry Group Page for pattern support, KALs and fun.
So hop on over and check it out. I did the design for her banner. Glad I could help!

Now onto my knitting and reading...
I am knitting non-stop on my Goldfinch Cardigan.
It's a joy to work on and I'm determined to get it done before the warm weather arrives.
At this rate, the winter is hanging on way too long so I might just finish it in time to wear!

The pattern is the Channel Cardigan by Jared Flood.
Knitting with Beaverslide Yarn, worsted weight in Winter Wheat colorway.

That's me knitting in the coop last week.

Yellow is impossible to photograph. That's what I've decided.

Body is blocking....started the english rib button band collar.

I'm reading My Notorious Life. Based on a midwife's journal from the late 1800's in NYC.
So far it's ok....keeping my attention but not the greatest.

Onto other things....

A bit of catching up around the farm and family.
My parents were away last weekend at the National Alpaca Show.
We kept down the fort and helped with the animals.

Maggie is such a ham and likes to get very close. Hard for taking her picture!!!

A brief warm moment for some swing fun.

My son Garrett celebrated his 10th birthday last week. He asked for brownies to take into school.
While they were cooling he asked if he could have one. I said yes.
This is how he cut a piece for himself. So Garrett....

Curly head

That's it for now! Have a great week and happy knitting!

Goldfinch Cardigan Yarn Along

Happy Wednesday! It's Yarn Along Day.

A day to share what you're knitting and reading these days.

I am still knitting away on my Goldfinch Cardigan.
The pattern is the Channel Cardigan by Jared Flood.
I have started the body and worked all the waist decreases and added the yarn overs for the belt loops.
Time to separate for the fronts and back. Interesting construction and a pleasure to knit.

I started listening to Sycamore Row by John Grisham on the Kindle.
I don't know why I try to listen. It's impossible. I need to read.
But I had a free audio book on the Kindle as a promotion so I tried. Nope.
Maybe some day I can listen but not with all these little people in my house.

Think I'll have to check out the library for a good book. Any recommendations?
Just read The Goldfinch (hence the name of my cardigan)

Our farm is open today, Wednesday March 5th.
Stop on by for some yarn, socks, gloves, hats, and all alpaca goodness!!!!

Happy Knitting!
