Back in the groove

Two weeks ago I posted about getting my knitting mojo back. I tried to figure out what caused my "slump". Well, I figured it out. My life is busy with three kids and a lot of my knitting at this time of year is on the go, baseball field, a row here a row there kind of knitting. Nothing too complicated because I couldn't carry patterns around with me. 

I was teaching the Outlander Cowl class two weeks ago so I casted on one for myself. Ahhh...the mojo came flying back to my needles. A great pattern. Just enough changes to keep me happy and not too hard to remember what I have to do. Perfect.

It's light and wonderful and I can't wait to wear it on cool days.

Getting my knitting mojo back

Last week I was complaining that I was in a knitting slump. I really shouldn't put the words complaining and knitting in the same sentence. I mean really...how can I complain about knitting? Ok...but you all know what I mean. I was just kind of bored with what I had going on with my knitting. I'm finishing up the sleeves (yawn) on my sweater. So, anyway....I am teaching The Outlander Cowl class at the farm this week. My sister, Andee, designed this pattern and I made 10 or so over the fall and winter for our farm store. I sold everyone or gave as gifts but did not keep one for myself. I found this gorgeous yarn at Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival this year and I knew it would be the perfect yarn for my very own Outlander Cowl. I casted on with my awesome knitting student, Joan and got to work. And a funny thing happened. I felt my knitting mojo come right back. This pattern is perfect for me. It has just enough changes but is super relaxing and I don't need to constantly look at the pattern. My sister is a genius when it comes to patterns. And I'm not just saying that because she's my sister. I mean it. And this yarn is so luxurious. I've never knitted with yak or baby camel so I thought I would give it a try. Feels similar to our alpaca yarn. Very soft and light. Loving it so far.

So, that's it for today. Happy to be knitting happy fun projects again. The sleeves will be done soon so I'll have sweater pictures to share next week.
