Summer colors

It hasn't felt like summer here, but the flowers are happy with the rain and showing off all their colors. I've brought some of the happiness in from the outside and I'm loving the flowers and fresh herbs.

I started a Lollygag cowl to wear to Rhinebeck. I'm enjoying the project but I don't love the yarn. It looks pretty but it's inexpensive acrylic and it's not my favorite by far!!! I want to knit another in better yarn once this one is done.

Rick and I went to Hoffman's before the summer crowds took over and I had Blueberry Pie flavor (my favorite summer flavor they make). Delicious! I highly recommend it!

Life has been weird lately and I think all of the highs and lows of the past 6 weeks has caught up to me. I had a rough day yesterday and just didn't feel myself. It's rare I have "off" days so it throws me for a loop! I didn't feel like knitting last night which completely confuses my family! Just need a reset day or days and I'll feel myself again. I'm looking forward to the weekend (it's supposed to be nice weather!!!!) I have some fun plans set up and that should help :)

Hope you're all doing well and enjoying finding the little joys to get you through the days.

Making

My head is still a little fuzzy after last week. I haven't been able to concentrate on reading any books and I have a whole stack waiting for me. But I did manage to keep my hands very busy. I started a small embroidery project that reminded me of my grandmother. She loved to quilt and embroider so I combined both ideas into little piece. I finished it and my friend Seashore Sharon is going to sew it into a bag for me.

I have picked up my Fettle Sweater again. I love knitting it and I think I'll love wearing it. The yarn is so squishy and wooly, my favorite for sweater knitting. I am also knitting a Knit Four Points Baby blanket for a customer. I love this baby blanket so much. A perfect size for little ones. I don't follow the pattern exactly though. I use worsted weight yarn, 10 1/2 needles and I cast on 70 stitches. You can see some of my notes on an older project. I will also be knitting a baby cardigan and bonnet to match.

The flowers have been thriving with the rain (so much rain) we have had so far. But the sun is shining and I enjoyed some time outdoors last night and today. The temperature was perfect with low humidity. Exactly as I like it!

Saying goodbye

June 1, 2025.

I took these pictures during the day as I anxiously awaited "the call" that our grandmother had passed away and went to be with our grandfather. Nan had battled mouth cancer on and off for the past few years. It came time that nothing could be done and she was put on hospice. It happened very quickly and I'm thankful she didn't suffer any longer. I went to say goodbye and she knew I was there. I thanked her for teaching me to quilt and embroider. I told her I would always quilt and keep her legacy alive. Just like me, if she was sitting, she was making something with her hands. I definitely inherited that quality from her.

Around 9:30 that night, just shortly after the beautiful sunset photo, I got the word that she was gone. It's funny, I thought she would be around forever. Her mom lived to 99! Her mind was still very sharp but her body was all done. She was tired and missed GPop. I'm thankful they're together again.

We will be celebrating her tomorrow and Saturday and saying our final goodbyes.

Rest in peace, Nan xoxox

She always had a book or something fun for the little kids in her bag. I'll never forget that about her.

May Days

May has been rainy to say the least! There were a few nice days tucked in there and I was able to get out of the house a bit for some nice walks with Buddy. I've been a busy bee with knitting, reading and cooking. Here are some photos from the month...

A thoughtful birthday present from my friend :)

Another thoughtful birthday gift! Knitting friends make the BEST friends.

Meeting instagram friends in real life!!!

We've had a few rainbows thanks to all this rain (looking at the bright side)!

All the grandsons together! It's very rare they are all home with the oldest two living out of state for college and work. It's so nice to see them all together.

Spent hours knitting and catching up with my favorite podcasters on Memorial Day.
