Baby Knits

I love knitting for little ones. I have a friend Stacy, that I met through knitting. She is a wonderful knitter but not very fast at it. So when she has a last minute baby gift need, she asks me to do it. Her daughter's friend's baby girl is turning 1 this weekend. She asked me to knit a baby girl sweater and I had just found this new to me designer and this pattern caught my eye. I had just put it in my favorites on Ravelry. The baby it is going to is a chunky one! She's wearing 2T clothing. Don't you love a pudgy baby?! The rolls!!! I thought this would be a perfect sweater to go over dresses and outfits.

I loved knitting it and loved how it turned out. The colors in my photos show all different pinks (weird lighting and an iPhone I guess). The closest to the actual color is the first one. I chose this little sunflower button out of my button box. I'm sure I'll be knitting many more of these in the future.

What I've been Reading and Watching

I do lots of things besides work and knit! I read when I can and I also enjoy some good tv. I'm a sucker for both. So just a quick post to share what I've been reading and watching...

I much prefer an actual book compared to an audio book. But my sister Liz recommended I listen to Tom Lake because it's narrated by Meryl Streep. I'm so glad I listened. I really enjoyed the book. The back story and the present day story were both interesting (that isn't always the case with books that go back and forth). The family of three daughters on a farm during the pandemic also resonated with me. I recommend the book. A very good character driven story - my favorite.

I am currently listening to The House of Eve. I've been listening while I walk the dog and do housework. It's the only way I can get reading done lately. The narrators are very good and that is a big help! I'm really enjoying the story. The author's previous novel, Yellow Wife was a book that I will never forget.

I also listened to Unraveling . It is our next patreon book club choice.
I enjoyed it. It gave a lot of information that shows how much work goes into farming, yarn, spinning, knitting, etc all to make a sweater!

I absolutely LOVED Theater Camp on Hulu. A comedy based on a fictional theater camp in the Adirondacks. Watch it! It's so fun! And the kids are so talented!

Virgin River, what can I say? It's like a modern day soap opera. Better than Hallmark but totally cheesy. I just finished Season 5. It's fine...I don't love it but kept watching. I just can't help myself!

"Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?" you're singing it right? If you know you know.
Only Murders In the Building gets better and better. The three of them are magic. And Meryl Streep was a great addition. I wish Paul Rudd was in it more. Does he age?

Have you been watching or reading anything good? I'm always looking for something!

What to be on NBC?

What to be on NBC? Ok!
Mom got a call from Lauren Scala, a news reporter for New York Live on NBC asking to do a story on our farm. They came to farm yesterday and I snapped a few pictures of their visit. I'm not sure when it will air on tv but I'll be sure to post when it does!

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall

Summer is heading out and making way for fall :) Fall is my favorite! Back on the beach with the pup, picking all the pumpkins so we can sell them at the farm, knitting, flowers showing off their last blooms and made this super simple and yummy recipe for lunch.

The farm opens up for the season this weekend, September 23 & 24.
Rain is in the forecast. Boo! But we'll be here rain or shine. And if it's really rainy, we'll do it all again the next weekend! Tents can stay up for a little longer.

Obsessed!!!!

I saw this sweater at the NJ Sheep & Wool Festival last weekend. It's the Francesca Cardigan designed by Jessica Ewing. I loved it! Liz tried it on and I knew I had to make one. ASAP!

Came home, grabbed a bunch of yarn and got to work. It's a quick knit and I'm obsessed!!!! I wish I could just work on it all day and not work. But ya know....that whole work thing. Has to happen. Booooo.

I sneak in a few rows in the morning, at lunch and at night. Since I took these pictures, I have finished the back and I'm on the left front. If you're looking for a fun quick knit that uses up your stash, go for it! You'll love it. I promise.

Sweating at the NJ Festival!

It was sooo hot and steamy this past weekend but that didn't stop us for driving out for an afternoon surrounded by sheep, yarn and friends. We drove to the Garden State Sheep Breeders Festival on Saturday. It's a little over an hour from our house. We had a nice ride in Purple Debbie's fancy new car!

While at the festival, we wandered through the four barns full of sheep and yarn. It was crazy hot and I didn't "chit chat" as much as usually because I just couldn't stand still in the hot air. I loved seeing all the beautiful yarn and samples on display. I didn't buy anything but I did find a sweater that I fell in love with at the Cape May Fiber Co. booth. It's the Francesca Cardigan. My sister, Liz modeled it and I knew we needed one in our life! Last night I gathered a bunch of yarn bits and bobs in my stash and casted on. I'm already loving it! Such a quick fun knit.

Next fiber festival will be in October at Rhinebeck (NY Sheep & Wool Festival)
