Reset

I've been super cranky lately. Yuck. I hate feeling that way. Not sure why. But I needed a "reset" to snap me out of it. Knitting and reading always help but even that wasn't working. I've wanted new flowers for the front of the house but just hadn't done anything about it yet. I planted some wildflower seeds but I knew it would be most of the summer before I saw a bloom. So I scratched that idea and just went for it. I took a trip to Gasko's Family Farm on Sunday. I have never been but I know my mom and sister love it. It's HUGE and has great prices. I filled my cart and came home to get to work. I hope they grow!!! Most are perennials with a few annuals mixed in, along with some herbs for cooking. We'll see! Fingers crossed.

After I planted everything, I got comfy on the couch with Buddy and my book. After a few minutes, we both fell asleep and I got a nap in. That doesn't happen very often but it was just what I needed.

I'm on the sleeves already of my Weekender Sweater. It's flying and I love it so far. I also LOVE our new book club pick. It's been so funny already. I think it would be a great Netflix movie. I'm about half way through right now.

To help lift my spirits I'm heading to my Monday coffee/knit morning. It's been over a month since I've been because I was working or sick. That should put me back in a good mood! I need my knitters :)

Wrapped in Love

When I got the news that my cousin was going through some life-changing health issues, I did the only thing I knew to do. Gather up the knitters :) I sent out a text to our Rhinebeck group with a half-crazy, not thought out plan...let's all knit or crochet some 8" squares and we'll connect them all and make a blanket to wrap our Carolyn in love. Carolyn is my real cousin, but we have each started calling each other in the house "Rhinebeck Cousins". Her spirit and personality are amazing and one-of-a-kind. There is no one like her! You ALWAYS have a good time when she's around. Everyone in this photo from Rhinebeck 2022 sent some squares along with a few other friends that weren't able to make it last year.

Within two weeks of that group text, we gathered 49 squares!!!! Our "cousins" all jumped in immediately and got to work. Liz joined them all together and it's now complete. I hope Carolyn feels the weight of our arms around her and all the love we feel for her as she heals during this health journey.

Fiber folks are the best :)

Making Time

I've been battling a yucky upper respiratory something all week. No fun. I actually took a real "sick day" on Tuesday and rested. I got some knitting and reading done throughout the week. I have been making time every day at lunch to read my book. I've found that I just don't love listening to books. I'm much more a "hold a book in my hands" kind of girl. But knitting likes to be in my hands too...see the problem? I made a conscious effort to read and I'm so glad I have. Baseball games are my prime knitting time (and drinking coffee in the mornings). So I managed to get a lot knit and read in one week.

My new project is the Weekender Sweater by Andrea Mowry. She might be my favorite designer. Well, it's a tie I think between her, Caitlin Hunter and Jared Flood. I love everything they all make. But I have found over the years that I wear my Andrea Mowry knits the most. This sweater is going to be so squishy and oversized. You knit it inside out for the body because it ends up being reverse stockinette (without having to do all the purling...thank you Andrea!) There's a pretty fake seam that goes up the back and front and the shoulders get a pretty texture. You can see what it will look like here. I've been wanting to knit it for a while now and when I saw the yarn, I knew it was a perfect match.

I'm reading The Half Moon by Mary Beth Keane. Again, another favorite. This is her fourth novel. I've read two of her earlier books and really enjoyed them. Ask Again, Yes and The Walking People. I love her writing style. I have about 1/3 left of this book.

Every day Buddy HAS TO GET exercise. So even though I didn't feel great, we got out and walked. Every day, a few times a day. This boy has SO MUCH ENERGY. Holy MOLY!!!! The flowers are blooming, gardens are sprouting seeds and plants, I found a little bird nest that I think is a house wren nest. It now lives on my kitchen windowsill :)

June Inspiration

Hello June. Always a busy month. End of school activities, playoff baseball, gardening, watering baby plants, getting into summer mode...

As always, I start my day on Pinterest and pin all the things that inspire me.
Here is a selection of what peaked my interest this week. All links can be found on my Pinterest Page here. It's all random and a bit of this and that :)
