Throwback Thursday

Throwback Thursday (tbt)
is a fairly new thing going on over the internet and I LOVE it!
People posting old photos every Thursday. It's fun :)

So, for the farm, I thought I would make it a new thing to do on Thursdays....

Here you go!
Life before the alpacas!

From left to right....Leanne on Gemini, Mom on Jamie, Andee on Oklahoma and Lizzie on Coco

Guessing it was taken in 1992 or around then.

Tidal Wave by Andee

Andee (my middle sister) has been busy designing new knitting patterns.
Beautiful I tell you!

If you haven't see her latest, I thought I would showcase it here on the farm blog.
Tidal Wave is the  name of the pattern. Available for sale on Ravelry.

The pattern is knitted in alpaca yarn and is meant be worn as a wrap, shawl or scarf.

How beautiful right????!!!!
And our friend, Ryan isn't too shabby either. Seriously...this girl is beautiful inside and out.

So hop on over to Ravelry and check it out.

Joining in with Ginny this week for the yarn along.

Randoms from the Week

Fresh farm eggs from one of my knitting students :) Thank You!
Time to get healthy. Need to drop some pounds! Healthy lunch.
So cold. VERY low temps all week. Kids in school, out of school, in school....
A trip to the library with the little boys.
A new book. Already sucked in and wish I didn't have to put it down.
Alpaca hat went missing for the GMan. Had to wear wool instead...wasn't thrilled.
Stolen knitting moments and coffee.
Snowy view out a window.
Hot cocoa.
Snow.
Our little man. 2 1/2 and exhausting.

Yarn Along

Happy Wednesday!

The Jersey Shore was blanketed with a beautiful snowfall yesterday and last night.
The kids have a snow day and we're hanging out enjoying the day off.

I am still busy knitting the baby blanket for a customer and few other custom orders, but in between I have a few little projects I'm also working on. Thought I would share as part of the yarn along.

Calling these my Mucklestone Wristlets from NYC!
I took a class last weekend at Vogue Live with Mary Jane and this was the little project
we worked on to experiment with color use in Fair Isle knitting.
It's a great way to play with color without a ton of time or material investment.
But let me tell you something, I haven't taken them off since I finished them!
They are the perfect wrist warmers :) I'm going to make some more as soon as I can!

More progress on my Follow Your Arrow Mystery Knit Along.
I received Clue #2 and I went with clue 2a. So far my choices were 1B and 2A.
I'm a sucker for a lace chart.

I am super duper excited to have the My Favourite Things Scarf on my needles.
I've been wanting to make this for a few months now but I wanted to wait until after my class
with Mary Jane. What a help it has been! I'm picking patterns from here and there...some of my own designs and some from MaryJane's books. It's going to be my long ongoing project.

Enjoy your snow day folks. Hope you have your alpaca socks on and yarn in your hand :)

Oh...still reading The Book Thief. I just ordered The Goldfinch through Amazon and should have it tomorrow. I can't wait to read it! I picked it for our book club and my friends have already started it. They can't put it down. The anticipation....

Joining in once again with Ginny and all the knitters out there.

Farm Chores

My parents have been in Las Vegas the past few days for the Priority Alpaca Auction.
That left the girls home to care for the farm.
These are pictures I took over a few days of farm work.
I got the easy job of feeding everyone at night.
Andee had the harder job of morning feed and cleaning.

Other than a good spit right across the face the first night, it has been fun
taking care of the critters.

And a fun story...well, kind of funny...today it's funny....
Last night I headed out to feed and put coats on the smaller babies during the nasty snow storm.
While my kids stayed in the warm house (my husband in the other room), Chase decided to play
on the iPad. And without anyone knowing until it was too late,
HE BOUGHT $100 WORTH OF FOOD COINS TO FEED THAT
ANNOYING TALKING CAT app!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was an "in app" purchase that apparently doesn't need a password and automatically takes the money out of your bank account!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I walked in the door, the kids informed me of this lovely transaction and thanks to the very very very very kind people at Apple, I will be getting a full refund and now have a lock on all purchase. Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok....got to run out there and feed the herd. Brrrrr!

Yarn Along up later....
