Santa, Please Bring Me Animals

The morning started off in a very, very long line at the Post Office to buy stamps.
The stamps were placed on the envelopes of my Christmas cards...which really did not come out very nicely this year. But, hey, it was the best I could do with the pictures I had to pick from.
Chase decided to be a very good boy today and enjoyed the whole process of the stamps and then putting all the cards in the mailbox slot one by one. We were there for a while.

Then on to the mall. Blech. Not a fan of the mall. I prefer to shop locally but sometimes you just have to go. So we went.

The little guy decided that  strollers are for babies and he wanted to walk the entire length of the mall.
Surprisingly, he was very good. We were walking towards where Santa was set up.
You know the photo spot where Santa sits and you can wait in a long line to sit on his lap and take your picture for a gazillion dollars? Well, my older two boys never wanted to say hi to Santa.
It freaked them out. They were confused. They didn't like the idea of sitting on some weird guy's lap and getting their picture taken. So...I assumed Chase wouldn't want anything to do with it.

Well....I was wrong.

He spotted Santa sitting in his chair. His face lit up. I wish so much I had a picture.
Very quietly and a bit shy, he waved at Santa.
Santa got up out of his chair, walked over to where we were and said hello.
Chase was asked what he wanted for Christmas and he replied, Animals.
Santa asked if he had been a good boy and if he helps mommy and he replied, Yes.
So Santa told him, he will bring him animals.
Chase gave Santa a high five.
I cried. Obviously.

It was one of those very sweet unexpected moments in the crazy hustle and bustle of this time of year.
With my older boys knowing the "truth" of Santa, it's fun to have a little one to enjoy the magic all over again.

Wishing you a Very Merry Christmas :)

  1. Too sweet. Sometimes the little ones surprise us by being different than their older siblings. And it's such fun to have a believer.
