Chase's Eggcellent Adventures

Have you met my youngest? If you have, you know he has more energy than most and has a personality about as big as anyone that I know. He's a character. He makes us crazy and also makes us laugh. If you spend a day with him, you will have stories to tell by the end. Always up for an adventure, lots of bug hunting, questions, questions, more questions, "you know something?" telling you things, farm chores, odd outfits, crazy curls, lots of eating, silly faces and more...

We have 8 chickens. They are 8 weeks old. While all of my boys have taken interest in the girls, it's really Chase that is hands-on and obsessed. He has zero fear of them, hunts bugs for them, "helps" with every chore to care for them and genuinely loves these girls.

A friend of mine has started referring to him as Chase and Miss Claire's Eggcellent Adventures.
I see a children's book in the works :)

Here are a few pics from last night. This kid will keep you laughing for sure.

In his underwear, with a worm in his hand, in the CAR. Yup. This is how he roles when it's time to pick up his big brothers from the bus stop.

A little chicken guitar to end the evening.

That's my boy.

iPhone Pics

Too many pictures on my phone. Yikes. Snapshots from the past few days....

Blueclaws game with the baseball teams and cousins. So much fun!!!
Here are Andee's boys and my crazy Chase.

Chase and his ninja moves

This boy is a farmer through and through. He's happiest doing farm chores and "helping"

Dalton giving my dad a hand with cleaning out the hay bins over the weekend.

BEST COFFEE ever. Really...it's excellent. It's going to be huge. And Coco wanted a taste. Silly girl.

Babies!!!!! Padouk making his debut this weekend (baby with the white face).
He has awesome markings. Love him!

Knitting on my lap, boys playing in the yard. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

This is one of my growing girls. Sookie St. James, 8 week old Buff Orpington

I think she approves of my knitting. Or wants to eat the yarn...

Beautiful, wild and crazy Grant. The littlest of the grandsons but one of the biggest personalities!

Ok...ready for this?!!! Seashore Sharon made me a super duper awesome double pointed needle case!
I am making the Rose City Roller Socks for the class I'll be teaching this summer.
When you are putting your work away, you can tuck your needles into this little fabric case, snap it closed and nothing falls apart! Genius! Thank you Sharon!

Right?!!!

I knitted this blanket for Grant when he was born and Liz had it displayed so nicely on her couch the other day. It's the Shale Baby Blanket by Brooklyn Tweed.

Hope you're having a nice week. Summer vacation starts tomorrow for our kids.
Ready to hit the beach with them!

One for the Road

Below: Jatoba and the newest baby, "Roady"

We have a new baby on the farm.
His name is "One for the Road" or Roady for short.
His mom is Jatoba and she is a first time mom. Her labor was showing signs of distress and something wrong and unfortunately our vet is not close by. In order for her to have the very best care and outcome, my mom and dad put her in the trailer and drove her up to a friend's farm where a vet would meet them. Well....mom was ok and thankfully everything was perfect.
Little boy was born as they pulled in the driveway and all was well.
Jatoba acted like all of this was totally normal and baby was happy and nursing right away.
Always an adventure here at the farm!!!!

Have a wonderful rest of the week.

My clockwork shawl is growing!! I'm on the second part and it's now too hard to spread out on my needles to take a good picture. That means I'm almost at the end! I am knitting this shawl using sock yarn I bought at Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival from Marigold Jen.
Fun and bouncy, happy colors and a joy to knit!
This is my project for the Arrow Acres Summer KAL 2015.
Have you casted on yet? It runs through August 31st. Prizes are rolling in!!!

Ravelry Notes: Clockwork Shawl

Half way through the book, Shotgun Lovesongs. Loving it. I can picture it as a movie. I said it here first...so in a few years when it's released you'll say, hey I remember that alpaca girl saying that it would be a good movie! Just sayin....

Yarn Along - Summer KAL Clockwork Shawl

Happy Yarn Along Day

As part of the Arrow Acres Farm Summer KAL, I am making the Clockwork shawl by Stephen West.
Fun, quick, light, colorful...summer! Join us for the summer knit-along and you can win some prizes!
Find us on our Ravelry group page.

I am knitting with some sock yarn that I bought at the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival this year.
It's silk and merino and a tiny bit of nylon. Hopefully it won't be too hot and I can wear it on summer nights with a tank and shorts or jeans.

I am reading Shotgun Lovesongs right now. It's told from the point of views from all the characters. All grew up in the midwest on farms. Now they are adults and all leading different lives but still connected. So far it's great!
