Yarn Along

Wednesday is here again. Time to post some recent knitting and reading.

Before I start, I want to thank everyone that came out to the farm last weekend for our Holiday Open House. We were surprised that many visitors were here for the first time. We continue to be blessed by the happy families that share their time with us and the alpacas. It was a nice way to kick off the holidays for sure.

So onto knitting.....

I knitted this Kerchief using Acadia yarn from the Fibre Co.
It's a blend of merino, alpaca and silk. It was heavenly to knit with.
The bumps of color are so pretty. I think that my next sweater project needs to be done in this yarn.

It was a very easy and quick knit.

I can't say too much about this purple project because it's going to be a gift.
I am using some Malibrago that has been in my stash for a few years. It's been waiting to be knitted for the perfect project and it's finally becoming something.
I also found a way to knit and read at the same time.
I managed to prop the nook up on my yarn bowl. Now, if I could do this with a real book....

I am still reading Tell the Wolves I'm Home
I don't know....it has great reviews but it's just not grabbing me. I'm going to finish it with hopes that I enjoy the whole story. I really need a GOOD book to read. Any suggestions????

Hope you're having a good week.
Happy Knitting

Happy Day!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our United States readers!

Just got home from the rival football game of Wall vs. Squan

Squan was the winner! We live in Wall, but my husband is the principal for Manasquan.
Got to go with the hubby! My kids were torn on who to cheer for, but in the end they chose their Dad and sat on the Squan side of the bleachers.

I also want to wish my sister, Andee, a very happy birthday!!!!!
Every few years it falls on Turkey Day. Always a nice way to spend a birthday :)

Gobble Gobble!

Please join us this weekend for our big holiday Open House.
The farm store will be open Friday and Saturday 10-4 & Sunday 12-4
Skip the yucky malls and spend Black Friday with us on the farm!!!

Have a happy holiday!

Knitting and Reading

Happy Wednesday.

I'm trying to come up with something cute and witty to say, but frankly, I'm too darn tired.
This "baby" 16 month old of ours thinks it's ok to wake up a gazillion times a night.
OMG. WHY??????? Then when he's awake during the day he NEVER STOPS.
But then again, that's what kids do. Thankfully he's funny and happy during the day.

Ok...so enough complaining and onto knitting and reading.

I finished these reading mitts up during the awful hurricane.
I didn't do the picot edging because it's a bit girly for me, so instead did a 1x1 rib.
I used Brambelberry Yarn. I've worn them so much that they are already looking old :(
I should have taken a picture right after making them. But, oh well.

I knitted up this funny stocking knit cap using the baby alpaca yarn I dyed.
I casted on 80 stitches, 1x1 rib and then 10 rows of sts decreasing gradually after 7".
I made a tassel too. Because every hat needs something fun.
This hat is for sale in our farm store.

I am also working on little baby leg warmers.
I am alternating rows of tan baby alpaca with alpaca sock yarn.
They're too darn cute. These will be for sale in our farm store as well.

And for my reading...

I bought Christmas music yesterday and have had it playing ever since.
I'm ready but not ready for the holidays. I bought my first present today.
Fuzzy Elmo slippers for Chase. He's going to need a helmet because he's not going to stop looking at his feet while he walks. That boy loves his Elmo!

Happy Knitting!

Color!!!

I love natural colors. They are my favorite. But I need some color!!!!!
Hung out at Lizzie's yesterday and dyed up some left over baby alpaca skeins.

Colorful toddler hats, here I come :)

Hoping to get some fun stocking cap hats ready for next week's Open House.

By the way, we will be having our big Holiday Open House
on Black Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Mark your calendars. It's always a great way to kick off the holiday season.

Fair Isle Yarn Along

During the hurricane craziness I started knitting this hat. I have this Fair Isle knitting book with patterns in it and thought it would be an easy way to add some detail as well as use up some of my small skein stash yarn.
I finished reading The Light Between Oceans this week. It was our book club choice for the month. I would recommend it. It was a good read. Nice and simple, fast and provides you with some good questions about yourself if you were in the same situations.
I just started reading Tell The Wolves I'm Home. Too early to say, but I am enjoying the book so far.
Joining in with Ginny for the group yarn along.
If you have a chance and get Showtime, please tune in for Inside the NFL tonight!
Manasquan High School football team is being interviewed today and they will be on the show. Exciting stuff! (That's where my husband is principal and where my parents went to school, for those of you that are wondering.)
Happy Knitting!
